What is Viibryd?
Viibryd is the brand name for the antidepressant medication vilazodone. This is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Viibryd is used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD).
Important Information about Viibryd
Viibryd should only be taken by patients 18 years an old, unless directed otherwise by a Doctor.
Some young people taking Viibryd experience suicidal thoughts. If you experience these symptoms or worsening of mood or behavior contact your Doctor immediately.
Viibryd can be habit forming. Do not share this medication with others. Prolonged use of Viibryd can result in patients developing a tolerance, decency and withdrawal syndrome.
Viibryd Side Effects
Along with the desired effects of Viibryd there are often side effects associated with its use. Patients taking Viibryd most commonly will experience the following side effects;
- dry mouth
- trouble sleeping
- unable to sleep
Other more severe side effects to Viibryd the will require medical attention include;
- Actions that are out of control
- burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, “pins and needles”, or tingling feelings
- chest pain or discomfort
- extra heartbeat
- fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
- shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
- talking, feeling, and acting with excitement
- trembling or shaking of the hands or feet

Viibryd Dosage and Directions
The recommended dose of Viibryd for the treatment of major depressive discored in adult patients is 40 mg once daily. Viibyrd should be given at the initial dose of 10 mg once daily for 7 days, followed by 20 mg once daily for an additional 7 days, and then an increase to 40 mg once daily.
